Air-operations - U.S. Navy air-operations as part of Coalition Airpower

CVW 7 that consists of VFA 143 (F/A-18E), VFA 103 (F/A-18F), VFA 83, VFA 131 (F/A-18C[N]), VAQ 140 (EA-6B), VAW 121 (E-2C NP) and HS 5 (SH-60F, HH-60H) is conducting air-supports for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Coalition Airpower conducted close-air-support missions
  • In the area of Lashkar Gah (Google Maps) an F/A-18C[N] (VFA 83 or 131) conducted a show of force to support ground forces receiving sporadic small-arms and RPG fire. The maneuver suppressed enemy fire. The aircraft continued to provide overwatch until ground forces completed their mission.
Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)
  • 22 USAF ISR aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Afghanistan. In addition, 2 USAF and 2 coalition aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.
Iraq - Operation Iraqi Freedom
Coalition Airpower conducted close-air-support missions

Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)

  • Bodrum, Turkey (Jun. 16, 2009) - USS Stout (DDG 55) arrived in Bodrum, Turkey, June 16 for a rest and strengthening the partnership between U.S. and Turkey in the midst of a six-month deployment to 5th, 6th Fleet Area of Responsibility as part of Eisenhower CSG.

  • San Diego, Calif. (Jun. 16, 2009) - USS Preble (DDG 88), USS Kidd (DDG 100) returned home to Naval Station San Diego from a five-month deployment as part of John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group (CSG) June 16.

    * Jun. 16, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) received supplies from USNS Bridge (T-AOE 10) in the Gulf of Alaska on a final phase of shceduled deployment. Currently, Stennis and USS Antietam (CG 54) are participating in the Northern Edge 2009.


According to Seawaves Magazine, USS Gettysburg (CG 64) as flagship of CTF 151 arrives the Republic of Seychelles Jun. 16.
