Air-operations - U.S. Navy air-operations as part of Coalition Airpower

CVW 14 that consists of VFA 115 (F/A-18E), VFA 22 (F/A-18F), VFA 25, VFA 113 (F/A-18C[N]), VAW 113 (E-2C NP), VAQ 139 (EA-6B), VRC 30 Det. 1 (C-2A) and HS 4 (SH-60F, HH-60H) is conducting air-supports for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Afghanistan - Operation Enduring Freedom
Coalition Airpower conducted 73 close-air-support missions
  • At Tarin Kowt (Google Maps), F/A-18C[N]s (VFA 25 or 113) provided cover for Coalition forces taking small arms fire. A show of force that expended flares was successful in stopping the enemy action.
  • F/A-18C[N]'s (VFA 25 or 113) at Shurakian (Google Maps) expended flares providing shows of force cover for Coalition forces about to take enemy small arms fire. The shows of force eliminated the threat to Coalition forces.
  • Several F/A-18Es (VFA 115) and USAF B-1Bs were in the vicinity of Morghab (Google Maps) to provide friendly forces with air cover. The F/A-18E's provided support through shows of force to friendly forces under imminent threat from enemy forces. The B-1B's successfully dropped several precision guided munitions on the enemy position terminating the hostile threat.
Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)
  • 24 USAF ISR aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Afghanistan. In addition, 2 USAF aircraft and a Coalition force aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.
Iraq - Operation Iraqi Freedom
Coalition Airpower conducted 18 close-air-support missions
  • No description on U.S. Navy air-operations.
Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)
  • 27 USAF and U.S. Navy ISR aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Iraq. In addition, 2 USAF aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.
