  • IVO Tsushima islands, Japan (Jul. 2, 2009) - Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Abukuma class destroyer JS Sendai (DE 232), assigned to 16th Escort Div., detected 3 Russian Ships sailing toward south in the vicinity of Tsushima islands, Japan Jul. 2.

    The Russian maritime group was comprised of Udaloy class destroyer RFS Admiral Tributs (DDG 564), Boris Chilikin class oiler Boris Butoma and a Sorum class fleet tag.

    The maritime group is heading to off the coast of Somalia for an antipiracy operation.
